OFFENSIVE BARRAGE PUTS HAWKS PAST CANISIUS, 19-14

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – The offense was firing on all cylinders as the Monmouth women's lacrosse team bested Canisius, 19-14, in a MAAC game on Saturday at Kessler Stadium.
 
Nine different Hawks (8-6, 3-2 MAAC) found the back of the net opposite the Golden Griffins (8-4, 3-2 MAAC). Monmouth led by three at the half, 8-5, before scoring six unanswered goals to build a lead that proved to be insurmountable. Hope Steuerwald and Cassidy Orban combined to score five of the goals during the run by the Hawks.
 
Steuerwald and Orban paced the offensive efforts for Monmouth all afternoon with four goals apiece. Orban also logged a career-high 10 draw controls, three caused turnovers and four ground balls. Mya Brock added three goals of her own with an assist to recorded her first collegiate hat trick and finish with a career-best four points.
 
Ella Spears posted a three-point performance after finishing with a goal and a team-best two assists.
 
Defensively, the Hawks caused 10 turnovers with Gina Verrone and Shannon Feeley each accounting for a pair. Madi Bednarik picked up her sixth win in goal after denying eight shots.

-The Hawks recorded their 11th straight game with double-digit goals scored.
-Monmouth's 19 goals were the most in a MAAC game for the program since scoring 21 at Quinnipiac on March 26, 2021.
-The Hawks picked up their third win all-time opposite the Golden Griffins.
