SECOND-HALF RUN SENDS HAWKS PAST LIONS

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Monmouth women's lacrosse team used a second-half run to surge past Columbia, 18-12, on Tuesday afternoon.
 
The Hawks (3-2) and Lions (2-3) were tied at 9-9 with 11:42 left in the third quarter before Monmouth outscored Columbia 9-3 the rest of the way en route to capturing the road win.
 
Hope Steuerwald had herself a day, scoring a career-high seven goals. Four of her team-high seven scores came during the Hawks' second-half run. Mary Kate George, Ella Spears and Caroline Brennan each logged a pair of goals in the contest. Spears added two assists to her stat line for a career-best four points.
 
On the defensive end, Shannon Feeley tied her career-best mark of four caused turnovers, while also tallying a career-high seven ground balls.

-Steurwald's seven goals were the most by a Monmouth player since Caroline Bleck '21 scored seven on Feb. 19, 2020 against LIU.
-Her seven goals are tied for the second-most scored in a single game by a Monmouth player.
-She logged her second hat trick and third multi-goal performance of the season.
-Spears' two goals were a career high.
-George posted her second multi-goal outing of the year.
-Brennan recorded her second straight game with multiple goals scored.  
-Monmouth improved to 4-2 all-time versus Columbia.

-Monmouth had nine different goal scorers.
-Four Hawks posted multi-goal outings.
-The Hawks outshot Columbia, 41-27.
-Monmouth put 35 of its 41 shots on goal.
-The Hawks were 17-of-18 on clears.
