SOUTH ORANGE, NJ – Dixon Black homered and
JD Greeley delivered 2.2 shutout relief innings, but Monmouth University Baseball (9-13) was edged by Seton Hall University (4-18) in extra innings Tuesday, 4-3.
Monmouth jumped to a 2-0 lead in the opening inning when Black launched a two-run homer to left to get the Hawks an early lead.
Dante Ciaramella did not allow a hit until the third, when D'Amico drove in two with a base hit to left to tie the game. MU got the lead back in the fourth on
Jake Catalano's RBI single, but Seton Hall tied it in the sixth with Luders hitting a double to left to knot things at three.
Three straight scoreless innings set up extras, with Seton Hall doubling home the winning run in the 10
th after a pair of walks put two aboard.
