MEN’S SOCCER DROPS TIGHT CONTEST TO DELAWARE, 1-0
WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Monmouth University Men's Soccer was defeated by the University of Delaware on Saturday night at home, 1-0. Justin Ruth tallied the only goal of the game for the visitors, a first-half marker.
 
MU had an opportunity to get even early in the second, but Jonas Lyshoj's shot sailed high. The game saw 11 cards issued between the two teams. Monmouth had several opportunities late but were unable to convert the tying goal.
 
The opening half featured three total yellow cards and several strong offensive chances, but none converted until the final two minutes. MU's Eryk Dymora had the ball taken by Delaware's Justin Ruth, and Ruth turned and fired into an open goal to give UD the 1-0 lead.
 
NOTES
 
-Justin Ruth scored the only goal of the match for UD in the closing minutes of the opening half.
-This marked MU's final home CAA game of the season.
-The teams have split matches the past two years.

-There were 11 cards issued in the game, including a red.
-Delaware held the narrow shot advantage, 11-9.
-Eryk Dymora made five saves for Monmouth.
-The Hawks took four corners to Delaware's two.
