WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – A third-quarter run propelled the Monmouth women's basketball team to a 60-48 home win over Canisius on Saturday afternoon at the OceanFirst Bank Center.

Ariana Vanderhoop buried a half court buzzer beater to close out the second quarter that sparked a 16-1 Monmouth run and allowed the Hawks (9-5, 4-1 MAAC) to build their lead to double digits, 38-27. Monmouth shot 63 percent from the floor and 60 percent from long range, while holding the Golden Griffins (2-14, 0-7 MAAC) without a single made field goal over a span of 6:14. The Hawks ended the third quarter up by 12, 46-34, before going on to secure the victory. Â

Stella Clark led all Monmouth scorers with 14 points to go along with five rebounds and five assists. Vanderhoop logged nine in the scoring column with four boards, while
Belle Kranbuhl and
Jania Hall posted eight points apiece.
