ALLEN’S GOAL GIVES WOMEN’S SOCCER 2OT WIN OVER IONA

FINAL SCORE 2OT
Monmouth 2 (5-3-0, 1-0-0 MAAC)
Iona 1 (4-4-0, 0-1-0 MAAC)

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Ava Allen's goal in the 104th minute sent the Monmouth University women's soccer team past Iona in the conference opener for both teams on Saturday afternoon at Hesse Field on The Great Lawn.

After Iona leveled the score with a goal in the final five minutes of regulation, Jesi Rossman set up the Hawks' winner. Rossman carried to the goal line and sent a low service across the face of goal, where Allen converged on the ball and buried it for the decisive tally.

Monmouth jumped out to the early lead when Jill Conklin scored in the 14th minute and the lead held until Iona's late equalizer.
