QUEENS, NY – The Monmouth University men's tennis team edged St. John's on Saturday, 4-3, ending the Red Storm's 10-game winning streak.
The Hawks won the doubles point with wins at No. 1 (
Max Benaim and
Sergio Martinez) and No. 2 (
Lucca Silva and
Victor Castro).
Silva also won at No. 3 singles, 6-3, 7-6. Castro won at No. 4 singles in three sets, 6-2, 6-7, 6-3.
Sophomore
Gabriel Busato clinched the win at No. 6 with a 6-2, 5-7, 6-0 result.
Monmouth improves to 7-2 on the season, and has won five straight matches.
