MEN’S LACROSSE DROPS CLOSE ROAD GAME AT CANISIUS

FINAL SCORE
Canisius 8 (4-4, 3-3 MAAC)
Monmouth 7 (5-2, 4-2 MAAC)

BUFFALO, NY – A close game throughout the entire second half went Canisius' way as the Golden Griffins topped the Monmouth University men's lacrosse team, 8-7, on Friday afternoon at the Demske Sports Complex.

Monmouth jumped out to a 3-0 lead and was ahead 4-1 after the first quarter, but Canisius responded to tie the game heading into intermission. After scoring to tie the game on four separate occasions, the Griffs took their first lead with 3:24 to play and ultimately were victorious with that decisive goal.

It was Monmouth's fourth one-goal decision during conference play as the Hawks closed the regular season with six games decided by two goals or less.

NOTES & QUOTES
"A lot of credit to Canisius for playing a good game this afternoon, but unfortunately we did not do enough of the little things that you need to do in order to win a close game. It's not that we played poorly in any one area but we just had way too many little mistakes pop up across the board that hurt us and prevented us from gaining momentum. Fortunately, we have a week to clean up things up before heading into the conference tournament next Friday."
