BUFFALO, NY- Canisius College (1-3) earned its first win the of the season overcoming a 15-9 deficit by scoring six unanswered goals against Monmouth University (2-2) in the final 14:37 of regulation to force overtime.
The Griffs would eventually score the game-winner with 1:16 remaining in the first overtime period.
Monmouth held an 8-6 lead at halftime and expanded that to 15-9 with 15:20 left on an Allison Tuturro goal but the Hawks couldn't muster another goal while Canisius' offense turned up the heat. The Hawks had appeared to have won it in overtime on a
Caroline Bleck goal but it was waived off by the referees. Minutes later Griff Marissa Malvaso scored on her second of two consecutive shots to give Canisius its first win of the year.
Offensively the Hawks were led by Bleck and
Rachel Mills who each scored four goals. Mills added an assist for a team-high five points while
Nicole Ceraso had two goals and two assists and Turturro ended with a trio of goals. Senior Steph Delliturri made six saves in net for MU. Canisius received balanced scoring from its offensive unit with five different players tallying a pair of goals or more.

- The match was originally scheduled for April 9th but on Wednesday afternoon the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference moved the game after Canisius' original opponent could not play.
- The Hawks are now 2-8 all-time against Canisius, however this is the first Griffs win since 2017
- In addition to her five points Rachel Mills had three caused turnovers and seven draw controls
