HAMDEN, CT – Fending off a late comeback attempt, Quinnipiac defeated the Monmouth University women's basketball team on Sunday, 53-38.
Monmouth earned a 13-5 advantage in the fourth quarter, but the Bobcats held the Hawks to 11-of-54 (20.4%) from the floor in the game.

Belle Kranbuhl (Boonville, NY/Adirondack Central) registered her second double-double in the last three games, ending with 10 points, 10 rebounds, and five blocks.
Freshman
Jania Hall (Gaithersburg, MD/St. Vincent Pallotti) went into double-figures for the sixth time this season, scoring a team-high 11 points in the loss. Hall made all six of her free throw attempts.
Monmouth falls to 1-10 (1-6 MAAC) on the season, and will travel to Saint Peter's next weekend.

-Kranbuhl started the scoring with two made free throws, but Quinnipiac netted the next seven points.
-In a low-scoring opening quarter, Quinnipiac took an 11-7 lead. The Hawks outrebounded the Bobcats 13-6, but shot 2-of-14 from the floor.
-A 5-0 run by Quinnipiac early in the second quarter gave it a 10-point lead.
-Monmouth was held without a field goal for 6:18 until Hall buried a buzzer-beating triple to end the second frame. At halftime, the Bobcats led 30-16.
-The home team opened the third quarter on an 11-2 run, capped by back-to-back three-pointers. The Hawks were forced to call timeout, down 41-18.
-After Monmouth scored four straight points late in the third, Quinnipiac ended the frame with a buzzer-beating three. Heading into the fourth, the Bobcats led 48-25.
-The Hawks improved on both ends of the floor in the final frame, outscoring the Bobcats 13-5 and holding them without a point over the last 5:49. Despite Monmouth going on an 8-0 run to end the contest, Quinnipiac held on for the 53-38 win.
