OPENING TIP
-Monmouth has dropped back-to-back outings and is looking to capture its first road win of the 2021-22 campaign and the first since Feb. 14, 2021. Â
-A win over Dartmouth would mark the first victory opposite an Ivy League foe for the Hawks since Dec. 5, 2010 when Monmouth bested Columbia in West Long Branch, 67-64. The Hawks' last road win against an Ivy League opponent came on Dec. 13, 2005 versus Columbia in New York. Monmouth topped the Lions in that matchup, 56-54.
-Dartmouth enters the weekend contest looking for its first win of the 2021-22 season and to halt a six-game skid. The Big Green are coming off a 73-37 home loss to Loyola Chicago on Friday.
INSIDE THE SERIES
-Sunday's matchup between Monmouth and Dartmouth marks the second all-time meeting between the two sides.
-The lone meeting came on March 15, 1983 in the NCAA Tournament in Cheyney, Pa. The Hawks claimed that matchup, 77-58, before falling to host Cheyney State in the following round.
A NOSE FOR THE BALL
Despite, being the shortest member of the Monmouth women's basketball team at 5-foot-4, graduate transfer
Stella Clark has made a significant impact in the rebounding department. Clark not only leads the Hawks with 7.8 rebounds per game, but also ranks first in the nation among players who are shorter than 5-foot-6. The Sea Girt, N.J., native is coming off a career-best 17-rebound performance against Sacred Heart this past Thursday. The 17 boards were the most by a Monmouth player since
Alexa Middleton '20 reeled in 18 against Niagara on Jan. 18, 2020. She is currently just one of 46 players in Division I to record 17 or more rebounds in a single outing.
Â
THREE HAWKS A SCORING
In Monmouth's most-recent contest against Sacred Heart, three Hawks reached double figures in the scoring column led by
Jen Louro's 15.
Stella Clark and
Kaci Donovan each chipped in with 10 points apiece. It was the first time since Feb. 21, 2021 against Fairfield that Monmouth had three players reach double-digit scoring in a single game. It was an occurrence that happened just three times a season ago for the Hawks.
Â
CRASHING THE OFFENSIVE GLASS
Monmouth has reeled in double-digit offensive rebounds in each of its first five games of the 2021-22 campaign. The Hawks are currently corralling 31 percent of their missed shots for the season and are averaging 13 offensive rebounds per tilt. Monmouth saw success on the offensive glass throughout the 2020-21 campaign as well, recording double-digit offensive rebounds in 10 of 18 contests, including a pair of games with over 20.
