EDISON, NJ – Four Monmouth University track and field student-athletes were honored by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference for their performances at the Wagner Seahawk Shootout last Friday. Veronica Chainov,
Mohamed Diagouraga, Katie Locker, and
Blake Wehr were all recognized as the Hawks swept the MAAC Track and Field weekly awards.
In her first indoor collegiate meet, Chainov won the women's high jump event with a mark of 1.73 meters, fourth all-time among Monmouth student-athletes. This ranks number one in the MAAC and 25
th nationally this season.
Diagouraga placed first in the men's 60-meter hurdles event with a time of 8.31, which is the second-fastest time in the MAAC this season. The senior also competed in the men's 300-meter dash, earning a fourth-place finish after crossing the line in 34.86, a time that ranks third all-time in Monmouth program history.
Locker picked up a victory in the women's 600-meter event, finishing with a time of 1:33.59. The time slotted the sophomore into second place on the program's all-time 600-meter performances list.
Competing at his first collegiate event, Wehr won the men's high jump with a mark of 2.00 meters, which ranks number one in the MAAC and 45
th nationally.
The Hawks will compete again at the Angry Birds Invite hosted by Lehigh University on Saturday, January 15.
