JERSEY CITY, N.J. – A
Julian Gomez goal with three seconds remaining sent the Monmouth men's soccer team past second-seeded Saint Peter's, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the MAAC Tournament.
Â
It was an all-around team win for the Hawks (8-8-2) who outshot the Peacocks (8-9-1), 14-5, without allowing a single shot on goal. Saint Peter's goalkeeper made five stops to keep Monmouth off the board, but the late-game heroics by Gomez in the closing moments came at just the right time.
