UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Monmouth women's soccer team fell in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament to Penn State, 3-1, on Friday night.
The Nittany Lions (12-7) got on the board first after a header was put into the back of the net in the 26th minute. Penn State then extended its lead with a second score in the 39th minute before going up by three, 3-0, with a goal in the 75th minute.

Monmouth (15-5-1) trimmed the deficit to two, 3-1, in the 78th minute.
Lauren Karabin inserted a ball into the box that was deflected by a Penn State defender before being struck past the Nittany Lions' goalkeeper by
