SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Monmouth women's basketball team fell in its 2021-22 season opener, 87-46, to Syracuse Wednesday night at the Carrier Dome.

Ariana Vanderhoop paced the Hawks (0-1) with a team-best 11 points on 3-of-6 shooting to go along with five boards and a pair of steals.
Jen Louro logged eight in the scoring column, while
Jania Hall added six.

The turning point of the game came when Syracuse went on a lengthy 34-3 run that began with 3:07 left in the first half and spanned until the 1:46 mark of the third quarter. That run allowed the Orange (1-0) to build a lead that proved to be insurmountable.
