GOMEZ NETS TWO VERSUS GAELS TO EXTEND WIN STREAK

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – A pair of goals from junior Julian Gomez helped push the Monmouth men's soccer team to a 2-0 MAAC road victory over Iona on Saturday afternoon.

The Hawks (6-3-2, 4-0 MAAC) improved to 4-0 in conference action after topping the Gaels (4-5-2, 1-2-1 MAAC). Gomez notched one goal in each of the halves, while Sean Murray got in done in between the pipes with his sixth clean sheet of the season.

In the 43rd minute, Gomez put the Hawks on top 1-0 off the feed from Jonas Lyshoj. Monmouth wasted no time adding an insurance score as Gomez tallied his second goal of the afternoon in the 48th minute after he was set up by Nick Rogers and Ben Zakowski.
