MONMOUTH MEN’S SOCCER SHUTS OUT SAINT PETER’S, 1-0

JERSEY CITY, NJ – Monmouth University Men's Soccer (4-3-2, 2-0 MAAC) posted its second consecutive shutout and got a first-half goal from Oliver Clausen in topping Saint Peter's University (3-6-0, 1-1 MAAC) on Saturday, 1-0.

Ben Zakowski's free kick in the 13th minute found George Akampeke, who kept it alive for Clausen to fire into the back of the net to give the Hawks the only lead they would need. Sean Murray turned aside two second-half Saint Peter's offerings to post his second straight clean sheet.

The best chance for SPU came in the second half, when Jamie Davis was awarded a penalty kick in the first minute of the period, but he sailed it over the goal to keep MU on top.
