NATIONALLY RANKED DELAWARE KNOCKS OFF MEN’S LACROSSE

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – The Monmouth University men's lacrosse team lost to visiting #20 Delaware on Saturday afternoon at Kessler Stadium by an 11-2 final score.

The nationally-ranked Blue Hens built a 4-0 halftime lead and were ahead 7-0 in the third before Zach Clemente put Monmouth on the board.

Monmouth goalie Noah Lode kept the Hawks within striking distance as he made 10 of his season-high 15 saves before halftime. Lode's counterpart in goal for Delaware, All-American Matt DeLuca, made 11 saves and limited Monmouth to one goal before being lifted late.

NOTES & QUOTES
"We are certainly disappointed with today's outcome and how we played today but it is still early in the season and we are learning about ourselves each week and how we need to play in order to be successful. Delaware made us earn everything and even when we were able to create some good scoring opportunities their goalie was equal to the task. With a quick turnaround, we need to turn the page and get ready for a midweek game on Tuesday."
- Head Coach Brian Fisher

"With a game this coming Tuesday, we have a great opportunity to get this bad taste out of our mouth with a win following a quick turnaround."
- Junior Captain Chris Hervada

- The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for Monmouth at Kessler Stadium.
- Monmouth moved to 1-6 all-time against ranked opponents.
- David Cormack made his first-career start in the midfield for Monmouth.
- Monmouth fell to 0-4 all-time against Delaware.
- The Hawks wore their blue chrome helmets with white jerseys and shorts.
