MEN’S LACROSSE STIFLES WAGNER IN 9-5 WIN

STATEN ISLAND, NY – The Monmouth University men's lacrosse team jumped out to an early lead and never trailed in an eventual 9-5 victory over Wagner on Tuesday afternoon at Hameline Field.

Monmouth won 14-of-18 faceoffs en route to the victory and built a 5-1 lead by the end of the first quarter. Rookie Matt Soutar was 11-for-12 at the faceoff X while Eamon Campbell and Cade Stratton contributed four points apiece.

The Hawks snapped a two-game losing streak with the win and improved to 2-2 on the season.

"It felt good to get a win today and bounce back from the weekend. We still have room to grow and things to clean up but we played really well in some areas to earn the win. Chris Hervada and Dillon Smart played really well and our team defense was excellent. In addition to the defense our face-off crew and wings played really well and the entire team bought into our ride which got us some extended possessions on the offensive end."

- Monmouth won its sixth straight game against Wagner and improved to 6-1 all-time against the Seahawks.
- The win snapped a two-game losing skid for Monmouth.
- The Hawks improved to 11-10 all-time against current NEC opponents.
- Monmouth won its first road game of the 2020 season (1-1).
- The Hawks wore their blue chrome helmets with midnight blue jerseys and shorts.

NUMBERS CRUNCH
- Matt Soutar went 11-for-12 at the faceoff X, including 11 straight to open the game.
- Soutar's 11-for-12 performance set the single-game program record for faceoff win percentage (.916), with a minimum of three faceoffs taken.
- Eamon Campbell scored the fourth hat trick of his career. Campbell also added an assist to give him five goals and three assists in 2020 and he now has 74 career points. He scored one man-up goal, giving him nine in his career.
- Campbell's hat trick was his first since May 5, 2017 against Detroit Mercy. He equaled his single-game career high of four points, the fifth time in his career he has registered four points in a game.
- Cade Stratton had a goal and three assists. Stratton's three assists set a new career high and he equaled his career high with four total points. Stratton has seven points on three goals and four assists this year.
- David Cormack recorded his second-multi goal game of the season. Cormack has five goals on the year and eight in his career.
- Mike McIntyre had a goal and an assist, his third multi-point game of the season. He has four goals and two assists this year.
- Brock Anderson scored his team-leading sixth goal of 2020. Anderson has 20 career goals.
- Ethan Masucci added his second goal of 2020 and the fourth of his career.
- Monmouth held Wagner to a season-low five goals. The last time the Hawks held an opponent to five goals was April 2, 2019 against St. Bonaventure.
- Soutar and Rudy Beck each had assists. Soutar's assist was the first of his career.
- Soutar and Chris Hervada led the Hawks with five ground balls each.
- Noah Lode made five saves in goal for Monmouth.
