LAST TIME OUT
Shooting 50 percent (28-56) from the floor, Rutgers defeated Monmouth in the 2020-21 season opener on Friday, 82-38. The Scarlet Knights outscored the Hawks 49-12 in the second and third quarters to pull away. Freshman Jania Hall led Monmouth with eight points on three field goals made, and also grabbed a team-high three steals. Freshman Gabrielle Wener added seven points in the loss, including two triples early in the first quarter.
 
SCOUTING THE LA SALLE EXPLORERS
La Salle welcomes back its top five leading scorers from a season ago, after the Explorers doubled both their overall and conference win totals. The team was picked to finish 10th in the Preseason Coaches' Poll. Sophomore Claire Jacobs was named to the Atlantic 10 Preseason All-Conference Second Team after averaging a team high 13.7 PPG last year. In their season opener, the Explorers fell to Towson, 95-66. Freshman guard Jaye Haynes scored 16 points in 19 minutes off the bench.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES VS. LA SALLE
La Salle leads the all-time series, 3-1. The teams will meet for the first time since 2015, when the Explorers earned a 65-50 win.
