WOMEN’S BASKETBALL ANNOUNCES NON-CONFERENCE SLATE

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – The Monmouth University women's basketball team has announced its non-conference schedule, beginning at Rutgers on Wednesday, November 25. The Hawks will play five total games outside of the MAAC.

Monmouth will face the Scarlet Knights for the first time since 1986, when Rutgers pulled out an 81-67 victory. Rutgers is led by redshirt senior guard Arella Guirantes, who was selected as Preseason Big Ten Co-Player of the Year and to the Naismith Trophy Watch List for National Player of the Year.

The Hawks will be meeting Sacred Heart for the first time since 2018. The Pioneers hold an 18-14 all-time series lead, but Monmouth won the last meeting, 69-64. Sacred Heart was picked second in the NEC Preseason Poll, while senior guard Adrianne Hagood was chosen for the Preseason All-NEC Team.

The Blue & White first faced La Salle in 1982-83, and haven't competed since December 2015, when the Explorers earned a 65-50 win. Sophomore guard Claire Jacobs, an A-10 Preseason All-Conference Second Team member, leads the way for La Salle after scoring 412 points as a freshman.

On December 5, Monmouth will travel to Saint Joseph's for the first-ever meeting between the programs.

The Hawks will wrap up non-conference play against Drexel on December 22. The Dragons have won all four matchups, but the teams have not met since 2007.

All home games all season long will air on the ESPN family of networks, specifically on ESPN3 and ESPN+.
