WOMEN’S SOCCER EARNS STATEMENT WIN AT #25 TEXAS

FINAL SCORE
Monmouth 4 (2-2-2)
Texas 0 (4-3-0)

AUSTIN – Three first-half goals propelled the Monmouth University women's soccer team to a 4-0 victory over No. 25 Texas on Sunday afternoon at Mike A. Myers Stadium and Soccer Field.

Monmouth dominated Texas from the outset, with Dana Scheriff (Babylon, NY / Babylon) putting the Hawks on the board in the sixth minute. A low cross made its way through the Texas penalty area where Scheriff stepped in front of a defender and used her left foot to score.

A counter-attack set up Monmouth's second goal in the 18th minute as Lauren Karabin (Wall, NJ / Wall / Brookdale) started the break. Her pass back to Madie Gibson (Cape May, NJ / Lower Cape May Regional) set up a cross that was perfectly headed inside the far post by Lexie Palladino (Medford, NJ / Shawnee).

A 70-yard run by Gibson to the Texas end line preceded a left-footed cross that A'Liah Moore (Manchester, NJ / Manchester) tapped into the empty net to make it 3-0 in the 26th minute.

Gibson added a late goal in the 84th minute to push the final total to 4-0.
