NOTES AND QUOTES

"I thought we played great. We outhit them quite a bit, but just couldn't come up with the big hit. Alyssa pitched fantastic, and her changeup was spot on. Defensively, we made all of the plays. It was just that one seeing-eye single that was the game. I couldn't be more proud of our team. We're getting better and better each year we come to the NCAA Tournament. I'm disappointed we lost, but I'm just really proud at how we competed at this level."  - Monmouth head coach Shannon Salsburg

-LA Tech put a runner on second base with one out in the bottom of the first after a single and steal, but a groundout and a nice snag by Rosado on a line drive got Irons out of the inning.
-Jimenez and and Higa hit back-to-back one out singles in the top of the third. Two straight popups ended the inning.
-Rosado led off the top of the fourth with a single to left field, and sophomore Morgan Maziarz came in to pinch run. The next three Hawks were set down to end the threat.
-Irons retired 13 straight batters after LA Tech registered a single in the first inning. The Lady Techsters walked in the bottom of the fifth, but the runner was later called out for leaving the base early.
-Junior Sam Tomasetti and Rosado hit back-to-back singles to lead off the top of the sixth. After a pop up, junior Amanda Hopeck moved the runners to second and third with a groundout. Freshman Danielle Dominik came in to pinch hit, but struck out to end the inning.
-With two outs and no one on in the bottom of the sixth, LA Tech walked and stole second. A bloop single over Wozniak's head at third base gave the Lady Techsters a 1-0 lead.
-With one out in the top of the seventh, Jimenez hit a double to center field. Higa reached first on an infield single during the next at bat.
-A fly out and a strikeout ended the game, as the Hawks stranded runners on first and second.
