NOTES AND QUOTES
Â
"This one was hard. All season long, it was a battle, and I'm just really proud of our group. Marist is one heck of a team, and I tip my hat to them. Being able to get back-to-back championships is really special. The two losses to Marist earlier in the season really fueled us. We went back and had some tough practices, and if we didn't go through that I don't know if we'd be here right now. We're going to go have fun at the NCAA Tournament, get after it and see what we can do." -
Monmouth head coach Shannon Salsburg
-Baron led off the game with a single over the third baseman's head, but Marist got three straight outs to end the inning.
-With one out in the top of the third, Higa launched her first home run of the season just over the wall to put Monmouth ahead 1-0.
-In the top of the fourth, Hopeck reached on an error and freshman
Katie Harrington made it to first on a bunt single. After sophomore
Katie Harrington stole second, Jimenez came up clutch once again with a two-RBI single through the left side.
