WEST WINDSOR, NJ – The No. 1 seed Monmouth University men's tennis team defeated No. 4 Fairfield in the MAAC semifinals on Saturday, 4-0. Player of the Year Srdjan Jakovljevic and teammate Alberto Giuffrida earned a 6-0 win at No. 3 doubles, while juniors Max Benaim and Sergio Martinez secured the doubles point with a 6-1 win at No. 2. In singles play, Benaim earned a quick 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 3, and senior Nicola Pipoli won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2. Sophomore Will Cooke Wharton clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 3. The Hawks advance to Sunday's championship game, where they'll face either Marist or Quinnipiac. The match is scheduled to begin at 2:00 PM.
