MEN’S TENNIS WINS FOURTH STRAIGHT MAAC CHAMPIONSHIP

WEST WINDSOR, NJ – The Monmouth University men's tennis team won its fourth consecutive Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship on Sunday, defeated No. 3 Quinnipiac by a score of 4-0. The Hawks clinched the doubles point after 6-2 wins from junior Max Benaim/junior Sergio Martinez at No. 2 and senior Srdjan Jakovljevic/senior Alberto Giuffrida at No. 3. In singles play, Jakovljevic captured Monmouth's second point from the No. 1 spot after a match penalty was assessed to Quinnipiac. Martinez earned the third point at No. 5 with a 6-0, 6-2 victory. Senior Nicola Pipoli clinched the match with a win at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-4. Pipoli was named Most Outstanding Player after the match, and has won a MAAC Championship in all four of his years at Monmouth along with Giuffrida. Monmouth improves to 18-1 on the season, and has won 16 straight games heading into the NCAA Tournament.
