After trailing by 10 in the third quarter, Monmouth rattled off a 21-4 run and defeated Fairfield on Sunday afternoon, 73-63. Monmouth fell behind 46-36 in the third frame, then outscored the Stags 37-17 the rest of the way. The Hawks were lights out from the floor, shooting 26-49 (53.1%) from the field and 11-16 (68.8%) from three-point range. It was the program's highest field goal percentage since March 2, 2014, when the Hawks shot 53.4% against Siena, as well as the highest three-point percentage since at least 2005.
SCOUTING THE RIDER BRONCS
Rider was selected fourth in the MAAC Preseason Poll, and junior guard Stella Johnson was named to the Preseason All-MAAC First Team. Johnson currently leads the conference with 19.9 points per game, and has been named MAAC Player of the Week five times. Junior Amari Johnson is adding 11.4 points and leads the team with 6.5 rebounds per game. After being named to the Preseason All-MAAC Third Team, senior Lexi Possett is averaging 9.3 points per game. Junior Lea Favre leads the conference with a 52.8 FG%.
ALL-TIME SERIES VS. RIDER
Monmouth holds the 29-16 all-time series lead over the Broncs. The teams did not meet in Lawrenceville last season, but Monmouth earned a 63-56 win in West Long Branch.
