SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
Pittsburgh is 2-2 in the early season, with wins over Florida State and Robert Morris with a loss to Nicholls State in between before falling the last time out to West Virginia. Ryan Murphy and Trey McGowens average in double figures, with the latter also leading the Panthers in rebounding through four games.

PITT HEAD COACH JEFF CAPEL
Entering his 2nd season with the Panthers, Jeff Capel has 16 wins at Pitt and 178 overall. He previously spent time as a head coach at VCU and Oklahoma, and was an assistant at Duke for seven seasons before taking over at Pittsburgh before last season.

HAWKS ON THE ROAD
Monmouth was just 5-11 in true road games last season, but got out on the right foot with a win at Lehigh. King Rice is 55-79 all-time in opponents gyms.

PITT AT PETERSON
11 of Pitt's 14 wins last season game at home, and Jeff Capel has posted a record of 12-9 at home since taking over a season ago.

HAWKS AND HIGH MAJORS
Monmouth is wrapping up a three-game road trip, all at high-major programs, after stopping at Big 12 members Kansas State and Kansas. MU is no stranger to these games, having knocked off six such programs from 2015-17, includ- ing UCLA, USC, Notre Dame, Georgetown, Rutgers and Memphis. In that time, Monmouth also lost at the overtime buzzer at South Carolina and held halftime leads over Kansas State and West Virginia.

MU VS. THE ACC
-The Hawks are 2-22 against current ACC members.
-King Rice has a record of 1-7 against current ACC schools.
-The Hawks have played all but two members of the conference all time, one of them being tonight's opponent, Pitt. After tonight, Louisville will be the only ACC team MU has never played.
-Monmouth's wins over the current ACC came over Miami in 1988 (64-62 in OT) and over #17 Notre Dame at the 2015 AdvoCare Invitational in Orlando, 70, 68.

SALNAVE LEADING THE WAY
Ray Salnave is the lone Hawk to score in double figures in all four games this season, including his sixth career 20+ point performance at Kansas State. He led the MU stat sheet a season ago and has done so again through four contests.
