WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Monmouth University seniors
Ryan Wetzel (Freehold, NJ/Colts Neck) and Reggie White Jr (Randallstown, MD/Milford Mill) and freshman
Juwon Farri (Germantown, MD/Northwest) have been named to All-America Teams by Phil Steele.
White Jr earned a spot on Phil Steele's Third Team All-America, his fourth AA nod following a record setting senior season. The wide receiver set the Monmouth and Big South record for career receptions and reception yardage while starting 45 consecutive games for the Blue & White. In his final contest as a Hawk, White Jr. caught 10 passes for 220 yards and four touchdowns. He was named Second Team All-America by the AP in early December.
Wetzel picks up another All-America honor after his final campaign, earning fourth team honors from Phil Steele. The guard started 34 consecutive games for the Blue & White and helped lead an offense that posted program records in rushing yards and total offensive yards. Wetzel, a three-time All-Big South selection, was named Second Team All-American by the AFCA earlier this season.
Farri was named to the FCS Freshman All-America Second Team after leading the Hawks and the Big South in rushing yardage with 1,024 yards on 149 carries with eight touchdowns. He was named ECAC Rookie of the Year and Big South Offensive Freshman of the Year and finished fifth in voting for the Jerry Rice Award. His 7.04 yards per carry set a new school record and was good enough for fifth in the NCAA in 2018.
Additionally, 18 players were named to Phil Steele's First, Second and Third Team All-Big South selections.
