POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – After the Hawks tied the game at 21, Marist went on a 29-4 run in the second and third quarters to seal a win over the Monmouth University women's basketball team on Tuesday, 69-45. Included in the run was a 15-1 advantage to close the first half, giving the Red Foxes a 14-point halftime lead. Marist shot 27-59 (46%) from the floor, and held the Hawks to just 17-66 (26%). Junior Sierra Green led the Hawks with 17 points on four triples, going into double figures for the 12^th time this season. Freshman Lucy Thomas added nine points and eight rebounds in the loss. Monmouth falls to 5-10 (1-3 MAAC) on the season, and will look to snap its three-game losing skid against Siena on Saturday.
 
NOTES AND QUOTES
"We had a more consistent effort tonight than we did against Quinnipiac. I thought we fought for every quarter. We did have some lapses, and Marist is a good enough team that they will take advantage of that. We had lapses in our transition defense, and they are lethal in capitalizing on that. We battled, but we had some moments where our offense escaped us, and we're still struggling to stay consistent with that. -Green scored Monmouth's first five points, but the Hawks trailed 11-7 at the first quarter media timeout.
-After the Hawks cut the deficit to three, Marist's Alana Gilmer buried a three-pointer. By the end of the first quarter, the Red Foxes led 19-13.
-The Hawks went on an 8-2 run to open the second quarter, tying the game at 21. Marist answered with a quick 6-0 run, forcing Monmouth to call a timeout.
-The run would get up to 10-0 until Green hit a free throw. When all was said and done, the Red Foxes went on a 15-1 run over the last 6:45 of the second quarter. By halftime, the Red Foxes led 36-22.
-Marist picked up where it left off, outscoring the Hawks 19-9 in the third quarter. Heading into the last quarter, the Red Foxes led 55-31.
-Marist built its largest lead of 32 with 4:09 left in the fourth, and hung on in the final minutes to earn the 24-point victory.

-Green scored in double figures for the 12^th time in 15 games. She leads the team with 14.9 points per game.
-Junior Alexa Middleton scored nine points and grabbed four rebounds.
-Junior Taylor Nason secured six rebounds in her third start of the season.
-Senior Erica Balman swatted another two shots and maintains her place atop the MAAC with 29 blocks this season.
-Marist had a 34-18 advantage in the paint.
-Alana Gilmer ended with 20 points and eight rebounds for the Red Foxes.
-Monmouth went just 5-23 (21.7%) from three-point range.
-The Hawks are averaging 45.25 points per game in conference play.

The Hawks will return to West Long Branch for four straight home games, beginning with Siena on Saturday. Siena holds a slight 10-9 all-time series advantage, including a 44-41 win last season in New York.
