NEWARK, DE – Three unanswered goals lifted the Monmouth University women's soccer team to a 3-1 victory over Delaware on Sunday afternoon at Stuart & Suzanne Grant Stadium.
The Hawks faced an early deficit as the Blue Hens struck in the fourth minute on a goal by Dani Kabat. Monmouth found the equalizer a little more than 15 minutes later when
Alli DeLuca finished an opportunity inside the Blue Hens penalty area for her second goal in as many games.
The two sides went into halftime level at a goal apiece and the scored remained tied thanks to a critical save off a corner by
Amanda Knaub less than 20 minutes into the second half. Seven minutes later, Monmouth took the lead for good as
Jill Conklin sprinted 70 yards and finished inside the far post for her first-career goal. The Hawks added to their lead in the 80
th minute with a tic-tac-toe passing exhibition that was finished by
Lexie Palladino.
