WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – In the final two games of the regular season, the Monmouth University softball team swept Siena on Sunday afternoon, 3-1 and 4-2. The Hawks end the regular season winning 21 of their last 22 games, and moved to 19-1 in MAAC play, sweeping nine of ten teams. Yesterday, Monmouth clinched the MAAC Regular Season Championship with a win over Marist. The team will be the No. 1 seed and host for the upcoming conference tournament, which will run from Wednesday, May 9 to Saturday, May 12. Senior Amanda Riley continued her season dominance in game one against Siena, tossing all seven innings while giving up just one run. Riley finished MAAC regular season play with an 11-0 record, a 0.66 ERA, and 99 strikeouts. Senior Chloe Howerth racked up three hits on the day, and made a diving catch in center field in the game two win. Sophomore Sam Tomasetti picked up two more RBI on the day, while sophomore Amber Wozniak also registered two RBI. With a 27-14 (17-1 MAAC) record on the season, the team will welcome Siena for the last two games of the regular season.

NOTES
"In both games today, our defense was just absolutely stellar. Siena is a very good hitting team, and we knew they were going to put the ball in play. It seemed like almost every one of our players made a diving play, and they were willing to take that risk in a moment that mattered. Our pitchers did a great job of mixing it up. Offensively, we worked to adjust to all of their pitchers, and it was great to see different people in the lineup come up with big hits when we needed it. In the second game, we were able to manufacture runs, and that's what it's going to take as we head into the MAAC Tournament. It was a great day and a great way to send our seniors out in the regular season." – Monmouth head coach Shannon Salsburg
-In game one, Wozniak opened the scoring with a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the third.
-Tomasetti hit a two-RBI single  in the bottom of the fourth to score sophomore Deangie Jimenez and junior Jasmine Higa. The Hawks took a 3-0 lead on the hit.
-Siena registered an RBI groundout in the top of the sixth, but Riley was able to curb the damage for the eventual 3-1 victory.
-In game two, Siena took the 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth on a solo home run.
-Monmouth battled back with three runs in the bottom of the fourth, including a SAC fly from Wozniak, an RBI double from Higa, and an RBI single from freshman Katie Harrington.
-Sophomore Kayla Rosado gave Monmouth a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI groundout.
-Siena tacked on another solo home run in the top of the sixth to make it 4-2.
-The Saints put runners on second and third with no outs in the top of the seventh, but freshman Lilly Robles came in relief and got three straight outs for the win. It was Robles' first career save.
