WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – The Monmouth University men's lacrosse team closed non-conference play in style with a convincing 10-4 victory over visiting NJIT on Saturday afternoon at Kessler Stadium.
The Hawks jumped out to a 4-1 lead after the first quarter and never trailed in the win.
Bryce Wasserman and
Griffin Figel combined to score seven of Monmouth's 10 goals to help Monmouth win its first home game of the season.
Monmouth's lead was 5-3 at halftime before the Hawks outscored NJIT 4-0 in the third quarter as Figel put in three consecutive goals. Wasserman completed his hat trick to make it 9-3 late in the quarter to help put the game out of reach.
