WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – The Monmouth University men's lacrosse team closed non-conference play in style with a convincing 10-4 victory over visiting NJIT on Saturday afternoon at Kessler Stadium.

The Hawks jumped out to a 4-1 lead after the first quarter and never trailed in the win. Bryce Wasserman and Griffin Figel combined to score seven of Monmouth's 10 goals to help Monmouth win its first home game of the season.

Monmouth's lead was 5-3 at halftime before the Hawks outscored NJIT 4-0 in the third quarter as Figel put in three consecutive goals. Wasserman completed his hat trick to make it 9-3 late in the quarter to help put the game out of reach.

- Griffin Figel registered his first-career hat trick and his first four-goal game. He increased his season total to 14 goals and now has 29 career goals.
- Figel also extended his personal points streak to 12 games.
- Bryce Wasserman scored three goals and added two assists in the game.
- Wasserman leads Monmouth with 29 goals this season and has 94 for his career.
- Wasserman extended his program-best points streak to 27 games and his goals streak to 13 straight games.
- Wasserman now has 14 career hat tricks and at least three goals in five consecutive games.
- Hunter Jones scored once and added two assists. Jones has 16 goals and five assists on the season.
- Casey Kimmel and Jake Willson each scored in the win for Monmouth. Kimmel's goal was his sixth of the year and second man-up goal.
- Chandler Vanderbeek went 8-for-12 at the faceoff X and led the Hawks with seven ground balls.
- Rookie Noah Lode made 11 saves in goal for Monmouth. It was Lode's eighth double-digit save performance.
