NOTES
"Today was a very rainy and cold day, but I thought we handled the adversity of the weather quite well. We were really aggressive in everything that we did, and knew Canisius was going to continue to fight back. Tomasetti's lead-off home run really set the tone for the day, and we were getting hits from one through nine. [Stauffer] was excellent in game two and also in game one relief. Overall, those were some quality wins and we are looking forward to getting back on the field tomorrow." – Monmouth head coach Shannon Salsburg
-In game one, sophomore Sam Tomasetti hit her second lead-off home run of the season. Three batters later, sophomore Kayla Rosado hit a solo home run of her own, putting Monmouth up 2-0.
-In the top of the third, Baron hit an RBI single and Rosado tripled down the left field line, as Monmouth went ahead 4-0.
-Canisius scored four runs in the bottom of the third to tie the game, but the Hawks quickly regained the lead in the next half inning with three more runs, including senior Chloe Howerth's two-RBI double.
-In the top of the fifth, sophomore Deangie Jimenez hit a three-run homer for the first of her career. Baron added a two-RBI double to make it 13-5.
-Canisius registered a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the fifth to extend the game, but Harrington put it out of reach with her grand slam that scored Jimenez, Holzman, and Wozniak.
-In game two, the Hawks exploded for seven runs in the top of the third. Those runs included a two-RBI single from Baron, an RBI single from Rosado, an RBI triple from sophomore Amber Wozniak, and a home run from senior Alex Holzman.
-In the top of the fourth, Baron homered to make it 8-0.
-The Golden Griffins tacked on a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth, but Jimenez hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth to make it an eight-run game.
