LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The Monmouth University men's tennis team improved to 5-0 in the MAAC on Wednesday afternoon, earning a 7-0 sweep over Rider. The two-time defending conference champions have also clinched a spot in the 2018 MAAC Championships, scheduled for April 28 and 29 in West Windsor, NJ. Junior Nicola Pipoli earned the 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles, and also won at No. 1 singles with teammate Will Cooke Wharton, 6-2. Junior Srdjan Jakovljevic won at No. 2 singles by a score of 6-0, 6-2, and won No. 3 doubles with teammate Sergio Martinez by default. Senior Ale Gomez Estrada and sophomore Max Benaim won at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively, and teamed up to take the win at No. 2 doubles. The Hawks improved to 11-13 (5-0 MAAC) on the season, and will travel to Quinnipiac and Marist this weekend.
