HAWKS WIN THIRD STRAIGHT AT GEORGE WASHINGTON

Monmouth Hawks (3-4) - 55
George Washington Colonials (2-6) – 51

WASHINGTON, DC – Behind 25 points from junior Sierra Green and 19 points from junior Emani Clough, the Monmouth University women's basketball team earned its third straight victory at George Washington on Sunday, 55-51. The Hawks trailed 42-40 at the end of three quarters, but outscored the Colonials 15-9 in the closing frame to take the win. Green scored in double-figures for the sixth straight game, and registered Monmouth's first 20+ point game this season. Clough's 19 were a season high, and she added six rebounds and three assists in the victory. The Hawks turned the ball over a season-low 13 times, and 10 different players grabbed at least one rebound. Monmouth wins three-straight games for the first time since the 2016-17 season. Improving to 3-4, the Blue & White will look to make it four straight at Lafayette on Saturday.

NOTES AND QUOTES
"I felt this was our best performance of the year so far. We came in with an aggressive mindset hoping that we could create some turnovers and limit their three-point looks. I thought our defense on their top three scorers was outstanding, holding them to just 25 points combined. We also had composure down the stretch, with Sierra and Emani making key plays." - Monmouth head coach Jody Craig
-Clough opened the game with a three-pointer, but GW scored the next six points. Clough would score five straight points, giving the Hawks an 8-6 lead at the first quarter media (4:06).
-After GW took a 6-2 lead, Monmouth closed the quarter on a 14-6 run. Clough scored 11 total points in the opening frame.
-The Colonials scored the first 10 points of the second quarter, going ahead 22-17. Two straight steals and layups from Monmouth brought the deficit to 22-21 with 4:44 left in the second quarter.
-The Hawks battled back to take a 30-27 halftime lead. It's the second time in three games the Hawks took a lead into the break.
-After a Colonials three-pointer to open the third, Green scored five straight points to give Monmouth a 35-30 advantage.
-George Washington used an 8-0 run to go ahead 38-35, forcing Monmouth to call a timeout with 3:01 left in the third quarter.
-Junior Rosa Graham came up with a steal late in the third, and passed ahead to Green who scored at the buzzer. At the end of three, the Colonials held a slight 42-40 lead.
