QUICKLY
Outscoring the Hawks 43-16 in the second half, Virginia Tech defeated Monmouth on Friday night, 82-49. Monmouth took a 17-7 lead behind four triples from junior Sierra Green in the first 4:26 of the game, but the Hokies slowly battled back and took a 39-33 lead by halftime. Green ended with 14 points in the game to lead the Hawks. Freshman forward Lucy Thomas went into double figures for the third straight game, scoring 11 points to go along with six rebounds.
 
SCOUTING THE ALBANY GREAT DANES
Albany was selected fourth in the America East Preseason Poll after finishing 24-8 (12-4 AE) last year. The Great Danes return seven players from a season ago, but lost leading scorers Jessica Fequiere (17.3 PPG) and Tiana-Jo Carter (10.9 PPG) to graduation. After starting 25 games last year, senior Heather Forster has become Albany's leader through four games at 8.0 points and 6.3 rebounds per contest.  Senior forwards Chyanna Canada and Amanda Kantzy have each added 7.0 PPG.
