MEN’S GOLF WINS HOME MATCH AT DEAL COUNTRY CLUB

DEAL, NJ – Monmouth University men's golf captured the team title at the team's Fall Invitational, held at Deal Country Club. Every Hawk shot under 80 on the day, led by a solo second place finish from Ron Robinson (Hatfield, PA/North Penn), who carded a two-under par 69. Andy Stock (Danbury, CT/Danbury) also shot under par, marking a 70 to place tied for third.

Robinson continued his strong play, leading Monmouth's card for the third time in five tournaments this season and second tournament in a row. He shot one-under par on each nine, leading off both with a birdie and answering two of his three bogeys with a birdie on the next hole. Stock shot a 32 on the front nine, carding four birdies in six holes with just one bogey.

Drake Ferriter (Ramsey, NJ/Bergen Catholic) also carded a one-under nine hole stretch, doing so with two birdies on the back nine en route to a 74 and top-10 finish, tying for eighth. MU's other two in the lineup, Brendan Smith (Sayville, NY/Sayville) and Glen-Michael Mihavetz (Montrose, CO/Montrose), each shot 76 with Mihavetz recording four birdies.

Playing as individuals, Pat Lehrkinder (Little Silver, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) also shot 76 to tie for 15th with his teammates, while Rob McHugh (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills) carded a 78 and Jimmy Criscione (Paramus,  NJ/Bergen Catholic) shot 79. Saint Peter's senior Mike Winter won the event by one stroke, shooting 68.

NOTES AND QUOTES
"I'm proud of my team today. I felt they stayed focused for the entire round. We talked several times in the past that to win we have to have some players go low and then we have to support those scores with nothing higher than a 76. -Robinson's 69 marks the first Hawk to break 70 in over a year since Nick Maff did it at the Binghamton Invitational on October 2, 2017.
-Robinson's score marked his career low and first time breaking 70.
-Robinson's round was the lowest for a Hawk this season.
-Monmouth's tournament win is its first since the Monmouth Invitational in April 2016.
-Andy Stock shot a career low round of 70.
-Stock has now carded all seven of his rounds this year in the 70's.
-Monmouth's team score of 289 was the second lowest of the year, four strokes shy of thethe opening round 285 at Bucknell.
-Every Hawk broke 80 on the day.
-Robinson has now led the MU card three times in five events this season.
-Robinson led the field in par-four scoring, playing such holes at three under par.
-Stock played par-four holes at one-under par for the day.
-Stock led the field with six birdies, while Brendan Smith topped all competitors in pars with 14.
