RIVERDALE, NY – After a back-and-forth final frame, Manhattan defeated the Monmouth University women's basketball team on Sunday afternoon, 63-53. Manhattan built its largest lead of 11 with 9:47 left in the fourth quarter, but the Hawks used a 13-0 run to take a 51-49 lead with over five minutes to play. Over the last 4:18 of the game, the Jaspers outscored the Hawks 14-2 to take the 10-point win. Sophomore guard
Kayla Shaw scored a game-high 20 points in the loss, including another three triples. Senior
Rhaiah Spooner-Knight added 15 points and four rebounds, while sophomore
Alexa Middleton registered six points and eight rebounds on the afternoon. The Hawks dropped to 5-15 (3-6 MAAC) on the season, and will return to action on Saturday, February 3 against Rider at the OceanFirst Bank Center.

-After Monmouth tied the game at seven, Manhattan used a 7-0 run to take a 14-7 lead late in the first quarter. Two
McKinzee Barker free throws made it a 14-9 Jaspers lead after one full quarter.
-Behind nine points from Shaw, Monmouth outscored the Jaspers 12-6 in the second quarter and took a 21-20 lead into halftime.
-After the Hawks went up 24-20 on Arfinengo's second triple, Manhattan went on a 13-2 run to take a 33-26 advantage in the third quarter.
-Manhattan stayed hot in the third quarter, scoring 26 total points in the frame and taking a 46-38 lead into the fourth.
-The Jaspers built their largest lead of the game at 11 early in the fourth quarter, but the Hawks used a 13-0 run immediately after. With 5:29 left in the game, Monmouth led 51-49.
