WOMEN’S BASKETBALL OPENS MAAC PLAY AT MARIST

QUICKLY
In the non-conference finale on December 22, George Washington used a 27-3 run from the first quarter to the third quarter to defeat the Hawks, 59-45. Monmouth's comeback fell short, as they cut the deficit to nine after being down by as many as 20 late in the third quarter. The Hawks dropped to a 2-9 record on the season, and will open MAAC play at Marist. Sophomore guard Kayla Shaw currently leads the team with 13.4 points per game and has scored in double-figures eight times. Shaw scored in double-figures 11 times in 20 conference games last year. Senior Rhaiah Spooner-Knight will make her MAAC debut against Marist, as she ranks second on the team in scoring with 10.2 points per game.
 
SCOUTING THE MARIST RED FOXES
The Red Foxes improved to 5-8 on the season and picked up their first MAAC win over Rider on Thursday, 80-69. Sophomore Rebekah hand poured in 29 points and secured the double-double with 10 rebounds. Hand leads the team with 17.0 points per game and 6.6 rebounds per game this season. Redshirt sophomore forward Alana Gilmer ranks second on the team with 13.3 points per game and 6.4 rebounds per game. Junior guard Maura Fitzpatrick is the only player to play and start in all 13 games, adding 10.7 points per game and 5.4 rebounds per game while leading the team with 3.0 assists per game.  
 
ALL-TIME SERIES VS. MARIST
The teams are locked at 20 wins apiece in 40 career contests. Last season, the teams split with each program winning at home. In both games, McKinzee Barker matched a career-high of 16 points. Alaina Jarnot added 14 points and seven assists in the home win.
