Following a 67-57 win against North Florida in Jacksonville's Thanksgiving Classic, Monmouth fell at undefeated Navy on Thursday night, 73-49. The Midshipmen used a 19-0 run in the second quarter to take a 41-14 halftime lead, and kept the foot on the gas to put the game away in the third quarter. Junior
Erica Balman matched her career-high of 10 points to go along with five rebounds, while sophomore
Adriana Zelaya also matched a career-high, scoring eight points on two three-pointers. The Hawks dropped to 2-5 on the season, and will look to defeat Robert Morris for the second consecutive season in Moon Township.
SCOUTING THE ROBERT MORRIS
The Colonials evened their record at 3-3 after a 84-52 win over Youngstown State on Wednesday. Robert Morris has also picked up wins over Northern Kentucky and Cal Poly this season. The team is led by sophomore center Nneka Ezeigbo, who is averaging 11.3 points per game and 6.8 rebounds per game. She is just one of seven Colonials that are averaging at least 6.3 points per contest this year.
ALL-TIME SERIES VS. ROBERT MORRIS
Monmouth took the 36-23 series lead after a 69-56 season-opening win at Robert Morris last season. After a
Rosa Graham layup with 7:31 left in the first quarter, the Hawks took an 8-7 lead against their former NEC rival and never looked back. Graham went 6-6 from the line to net 14 points in her first collegiate game, while
Alaina Jarnot was the lone freshman to start and stuffed the stat sheet, ending with 9 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals in 27 minutes.
