QUICKLY
The Monmouth University women's basketball team opens its 2017-18 season with three straight home games, starting with Sacred Heart on Friday night in game one of a Monmouth Basketball doubleheader. After advancing to its fourth straight quarterfinals, the Hawks were picked fifth in the MAAC Preseason Coaches Poll. Sophomore guard Kayla Shaw was named to the Preseason MAAC All-MAAC Third Team after hitting a program record 93 three-pointers last season. Monmouth returns seven players that averaged at least 12 minutes per game last season, while also adding transfer Rhaiah Spooner-Knight and freshmen forwards Selina Dockery (Finland) and Carol Arfinengo (Spain).

SCOUTING THE SACRED HEART PIONEERS
The Pioneers were selected fourth in the NEC Preseason Poll, while redshirt junior forward Katherine Haines was named to the All-NEC Preseason Team after averaging 12.9 points per game and 8.7 rebounds per game. The Pioneers lost leading scorer Hannah Kimmel (15.3 PPG) to graduation, and feature a young 2017-18 squad that only has one senior in Tykera Carter.

ALL-TIME SERIES VS. SACRED HEART
Sacred Heart owns an 18-12 all-time record against the Hawks, but Monmouth earned the 65-54 win over the Pioneers last season. Kayla Shaw scored 15 points on five three-pointers, while Taylor Nason grabbed 10 rebounds.
