WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Colgate scored twice in the first 29 minutes and took a 3-0 victory over the Monmouth University men's soccer game Sunday afternoon at Hesse Field on The Great Lawn. With the win, Colgate improves to 3-1-0, while Monmouth falls to 0-2-2.
The Raiders opened the scoring in the 20th minute as Aram Ouligian skied to head the ball on to Zach Tamen in the box for a one-on-one opportunity against Monmouth goalkeeper
Chris Seager (Ocean Township, NJ/Ocean). Tamen placed it inside the far post for what proved to be the game winner. Ethan Kutler capitalized in the 29th minute, when the Hawks' defense errantly played the ball back to Seager, forcing the junior keeper to bat the ball out to Kutler, who tapped it over the goal line. With 44 seconds remaining in regulation, Jared Stroud went to the opposite upper 90 to account for the 3-0 final score.
