Alexandra Graff (Bastad, Sweden/IMG Academy),
Chioma Gabriel (Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway) and
Kendal Kauffman (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) each won their singles matches, but the Monmouth University women's tennis team was edged at Wagner, 4-3, on Wednesday afternoon. With the loss, the Hawks slip to 5-11, while the Seahawks are now 7-3.
The Seahawks swept the doubles point with a pair of 6-4 victories at Nos. 1 and 2 and a 6-3 decision at No. 3. The Hawks evened the score on Kauffman's 6-4, 0-6, 6-3, victory over Rina Baynes at No. 4, before taking a 2-1 lead Graff defeated Marina Rull Valvieso, 7-6 (8), 2-6, 6-2, at No. 2.
Wagner drew even on Avika Sagwal's 7-6 (5), 6-4, win over
Adriana Armendariz (Pamplona, Spain/Colegio San Ignacio [Maryville]) at the top singles flight.
Chioma Gabriel (Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway) pushed the Hawks to within one singles victory from a match win, defeating Samantha Hodges, 3-6, 7-6 (5), 6-4, at No. 3. But Wagner would take the final two flights. Jenna Harris defeated

The Hawks return to action Saturday, when they play host to MAAC foe Siena. First serve is slated for 2:30 p.m.
