WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Adriana Armendariz (Pamplona, Spain/Colegio San Ignacio [Maryville]) and Kendal Kauffman (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) won twice each as the Monmouth University women's tennis team closed out its season with a 5-2 win over Mount St. Mary's Sunday afternoon at the MU Outdoor Tennis Complex. With the win, the Hawks finish at 7-14, while the Mountaineers are now 4-16. With the singles victory, Armendariz finished the year at 15-7 overall, including a 14-6 mark at the No. 1 flight.

Armendariz and Kauffman earned a 6-1 win at the top doubles flight over Kelly Smith and Erin Benefiel, but the Mountaineers won at Nos. 2 and 3 to take the doubles point. Sruthi Kamprath and Brittany Poje defeated Alexandra Graff (Bastad, Sweden/IMG Academy) and Maria Ivanova (Moscow, Russia/IMG Academy), 6-0, at No. 2, while Emma Blake and Isabella Draper defeated Chioma Gabriel (Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway) and Rayne Ruoff (Reading, PA/Exeter Twp Sr.), 7-5, at No. 3.

Armendariz completed the double win with a 6-1, 6-2, victory over Smith at No. 1 singles, while Kauffman battled back from down a set to defeat Blake, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 4. The Hawks also earned singles victories at Nos. 2, 3 and 6, including another two three-set wins. Grace Wills (Tinton Falls, NJ/Monmouth Regional [Brookdale C.C.]) defeated Sam Barbato in straight sets at No. 6, 6-2, 6-3, before Graff got past Poje, 6-4, 0-6, 6-2, at No. 2. Gabriel rounded out the victory with a gritty, 7-6, 4-6, 14-12, victory over Benefiel at No. 3.
