WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – The Monmouth University women's tennis team cruised past Maryland Eastern Shore, 7-0, Thursday afternoon at the Monmouth Outdoor Tennis Complex for its second-straight win. The Hawks dropped no more than one game in any of the five singles flights or two doubles matches contested to improve to 4-8 on the season. Maryland Eastern Shore dips to 0-3 on the season.

Adriana Armendariz (Pamplona, Spain/Colegio San Ignacio [Maryville]) and Kendal Kauffman (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) defeated Melequa King and Alese Brown, 6-1, at No. 1 doubles, while Alexandra Graff (Bastad, Sweden/IMG Academy) and Maria Ivanova (Moscow, Russia/IMG Academy) blanked DaTonya Price and Crystal Crook, 6-0, at No. 2, to win the doubles point. Monmouth also took the third flight by default.

In singles, Armendariz and Kauffman posted 6-0, 6-0, scores in defeating King and Crook at Nos. 1 and 4, respectively. Maria Ivanova also led Tearraney Peak, 6-0, 5-0, at No. 5 when Peak was forced to retire due to injury. Graff and Chioma Gabriel (Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway) also took 6-1, 6-0, wins over Brown and Price at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively. Monmouth picked up the decision at No. 6 by default.

The Hawks return to action tomorrow when they travel to the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center to take on St. Francis Brooklyn.
