Monmouth can clinch at least the No. 6 seed in the MAAC Championships with a win and can finish as high as the No. 5 seed. The Hawks are riding a season-best three-game winning streak after defeating Rider, 76-61, Thursday night. Meanwhile, SPU has fallen on hard times, dropping 13 straight, including a 60-43 home loss to Manhattan on Friday.
SCOUTING THE SAINT PETER'S PEACOCKSSajanna Bethea leads the Peacocks at 11.9 points and 7.1 rebounds per game, while also shooting 84.8 percent from the free-throw line. Talah Hughes has also contributed 9.4 points per game, while Hala Mostafa has chipped in with 8.3 points, 6.5 rebounds and a team-leading 1.6 blocks per game. However, no other Peacock have averaged more than 3.8 points per game. Rebecca Sparks has dished out a team-best 2.8 assists per game.
ALL-TIME SERIES VS. SAINT PETER'SMonmouth owns a 19-12 lead in the all-time series with Saint Peter's, including wins in eight of the last 10. Saint Peter's snapped a three-game Monmouth winning streak with a 67-62 win Jan. 6 in Jersey City. Last season, the MU swept two meetings with a 67-52 road win, Feb. 5 in Jersey City before defeating the Peacocks, 64-56, 10 days later at the MAC.
