WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Led by a game-high 17 points from
Jasmine McCall (Manalapan, NJ/Manalapan [Seton Hall]), the Monmouth University women's basketball team's bench outscored that of hOURglass rival Rider, 39-7, en route to a 76-61 victory Thursday night at the Multipurpose Activity Center. With their third-straight win, the Hawks improve to 12-16 (10-9 MAAC), while the Broncs fall to 7-21 (4-15 MAAC). The Hawks eclipsed 46 percent shooting for the fourth-straight game, connecting at 46.2 percent (30-65).
Jamiyah Bethune (Union, NJ/Union [Penn State]) added 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting, while
Sarah Olson (Freehold, NJ/Howell [NJIT]) contributed 13 points, five rebounds and four assists.
Jasmine Walker (North Brunswick, NJ/North Brunswick) rounded out four Hawks in double figures with 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting.
Christina Mitchell (Baltimore, MD/MATHS) grabbed a game-high nine rebounds and blocked three shots.
Kamila Hoskova and Robin Perkins led Rider with 14 points apiece. Julia Duggan also added 12 points, nine rebounds and three blocks, while Lexi Posset contributed eight points, four assists, four rebounds and four steals.

After the teams exchanged early leads, two Bethune free throws gave the Hawks an 11-10 lead at the 2:46 mark of the first quarter and the Hawks never trailed again. The first quarter ended with Monmouth leading, 13-12. The Hawks opened the second quarter with six-straight points and 19 of the first 23 in the period to open up a 16-point lead, heading to the locker room on top, 35-19. Six different Hawks scored in the 19-4 run, led by five points each from McCall and Walker. Â
McCall led all scorers with 10 points, while Walker added seven as Monmouth's bench outscored that of Rider, 24-2, in the first half. Perkins led Rider with five points, while Duggan and C'quoya Haughton grabbed six rebounds each. The Hawks outshot Rider, 43.3 percent (13-30) to 20.7 percent (6-29) in the first half.
The Hawks maintained a lead of between 13 and 19 points for the duration of the third quarter before pushing the lead to 21 on an Olson lay-up to open the fourth-quarter scoring. The closest the Broncs could get the rest of the way was to within 14 on Posset's three at the 1:48 mark. Â
For the game, the Hawks outshot the Broncs, 46.2 percent (30-65) to 32.8 percent (22-67) from the floor and 36.4 percent (8-22) to 30.0 percent (6-20) from long range. The Broncs took a 64.7 percent (11-17) to 61.5 percent (8-13) edge from the free-throw line, while both teams grabbed 43 rebounds. The Hawks took a 34-22 edge in the paint, while the Broncs outscored Monmouth, 18-11, on second-chance opportunities.
The Hawks close out the regular season Sunday, when they play host to another hOURglass rival in Saint Peter's. Tip-off from the Multipurpose Activity Center is slated for 2 p.m. on ESPN3. Prior to the game, the Hawks will host Senior Day ceremonies to celebrate the careers of their six seniors.
