SCOUTING THE CANISIUS GOLDEN GRIFFINSCrystal Porter leads Canisius at 10.0 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. Margret Halfdanardottir has also scored 9.5 points per game, while shooting 44.0 percent from long range. Lauren D'Hont is next in scoring at 7.7 points per game, while Maria Welch has chipped in with 7.5 points per game. Tiahana Mills has added 7.3 points per game. However, Mills was lost to a season-ending injury in mid-January. Jasmine Mungo has scored 5.8 points and grabbed a team-best 5.2 rebounds per game. However, Mungo hasn't played in the last six.
ALL-TIME SERIES VS. CANISIUSThe Hawks have won the last two meetings with Canisius to tie the all-time series at 3-3. The two teams split a pair of meetings in Monmouth's first year in the MAAC, while the Griffs swept the regular season series last year. However, Monmouth ended Canisius' season with a 68-56 victory in the MAAC Championship First Round. Monmouth also took a 79-75 win in this year's first meeting, Feb. 7 in West Long Branch.
LAST TIME OUTJamiyah Bethune scored a team-high 17 points as the Hawks defeated Niagara, 68-55, Friday night at the “Taps” Gallagher Center.
Christina Mitchell added 14 points, while
Sarah Olson also finished in double figures with 13. Monmouth forced 24 Niagara turnovers.
LAST TIME AGAINST CANISIUSTyese Purvis hit a go-ahead three-pointer with 46.2 seconds left as Monmouth defeated Canisius, 79-75, Feb. 7 at the MAC.
Sarah Olson led the Hawks with 24 points, while
Jamiyah Bethune posted her first-career double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Crystal Porter led Canisius with 24 points and nine rebounds, while Maria Welch added 20 points and seven boards.
