The Hawks emerged with a 79-75 victory over Canisius on Sunday, while the Jaspers have won five of their last six, including a 64-59 road win at Marist Monday. The lone loss in the span came last Tuesday in West Long Branch, with the Hawks coming away with a 72-62 win.
SCOUTING THE MANHATTAN JASPERSJames Madison transfer guard Amani Tatum leads the Jaspers at 11.7 points per game, while also dishing out 3.2 assists and making 3.2 steals per game. Fellow sophomore Nyasha Irizarry has chipped in at 9.2 points per game. Redshirt sophomore post player Kayla Grimme has added 8.0 points and a team-best 8.0 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game. Blake Underhill has dished out a team-high 3.7 assists per contest.
ALL-TIME SERIES VS. MANHATTANMonmouth has won the last four games to take a 10-9 lead in the all-time series with Manhattan. Included in the streak was a 72-62 victory on Feb. 2 at the MAC.
LAST TIME OUTSarah Olson scored a season-high 24 points and
Jamiyah Bethune compiled her first-career double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds as the Hawks came from behind to defeat Canisius, 79-75, Sunday afternoon at the MAC. Olson also grabbed six rebounds, dished out five assists and made four steals.
Jasmine Walker added 12 points off the bench, while
Tyese Purvis also finished in double figures with 10 points, including a three with 46.2 seconds remaining to put the Hawks on top for good.
LAST TIME AGAINST MANHATTANSarah Olson scored 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting and
Jamiyah Bethune added 17 points as the Hawks defeated Manhattan, 72-62, on Kids' Day, Feb. 2 at the MAC.
Christina Mitchell also added eight points and nine rebounds. Kayla Grimme and Shayna Ericksen scored 12 points apiece for Manhattan, with Grimme completing a double-double with 12 boards.
